Astronomical Park

The Southern Colorado Astronomical Park is located one mile west of La Veta on County Road 430. The land was a gift, donated to the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society (SCAS) for the purposes of education, research, and the enjoyment of all. Here you will find a crossroads of ancient and modern astronomy, including our “Stone Calendar” under construction and two observatory structures. At the park you can gaze at the stars much like ancient astronomers did several thousand years ago, or take a modern approach by viewing the riches of the sky through a telescope inside a domed observatory. SCAS will be making improvements to the park by adding camping (pull, RV and tent), pavilions with picnic tables. To learn more, visit the SCAS website  www.scaspueblo.com.
