Dr. David Westmoreland at Cuchara Mountain Mercantile

An amazing opportunity is coming to our area.  Dr. David Westmoreland and Dr. Arri Eisen have been involved for over 15 years in an unprecedented intellectual endeavor.  They were both teaching at Emory University when the Dalai Lama invited the University to integrate modern science into the education of the thousands of Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns in exile in India. This project, the Emory Tibet Science Initiative, became the first major change in the monastic curriculum in six centuries.
The singular backdrop of teaching science to Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns offered provocative insights into how science and religion can work together to enrich each other, as well as to shed light on life and what it means to be a thinking, biological human. Dr. Westmoreland and Dr. Eisen are now both teaching at the Air Force Academy.
They will be sharing their experiences on Saturday September 11th at 1PM at the Cuchara Mercantile.  This extraordinary event is brought to you by Mt. Rose Health Center Palliative Care and Hospice and Huajatolla Heritage Foundation that are partnering in a Mindful Aging Program.  Although there is no charge for this event, donations will be gratefully accepted.  Contact Sandy Dolak at 719-251-1271 for more information.

The event is finished.
