National Alzheimer’s Month: A Presentation by Sandy Dolak

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a time to heighten awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and show support for the more than 6.2 million Americans living with this devastating diagnosis. Even more staggering is the number of caregivers, loved ones and friends that are also affected. And we all have nagging questions wondering if misplacing our keys is the beginning of that slippery slope!

Sandy Dolak, RN is partnering with Mt. Rose Health Center Palliative Care and Hospice, the Walsenburg Library and the La Veta Library to present a most informative program about the understanding of the disease as well as most effective methods of interacting with those affected. She will be using materials presented by nationally recognized educator Amy Mathews. Amy has worked exclusively in the field of Alzheimer’s and related dementia disorders for the past 30 years. Sandy will also share her insight of many years of interest and a brief sharing of the role of creativity in working with this special population.

The program will be 2PM, Thursday November 18th upstairs at the La Veta Library and then repeated at 2PM, Monday November 22nd at the Walsenburg Library. Please join us for this learning experience.
