Origins of the Spanish Peaks at the La Veta Mercantile
For a region that is located adjacent to a mountain range, the Colorado High Plains sit at unusually high elevations. The question as to why the High Plains are so high is a question that has puzzled geologists working in this area for decades. The first part of this puzzle is knowing when the High Plains reached their elevation. To answer this, a team of geologists at CU Boulder set their eyes on the Spanish Peaks region. Once located miles below the surface, the Spanish Peaks and surrounding plains reveal all incredible geologic history that helps us understand how our modern landscapes came to be. Research presenters will be: Sabrina Kainz -Doctoral student at the University of Washington. Lon D. Abbott – Teaching Professor of Distinction and Undergraduate Associate Chair, Dept. of Geological Sciences at CU Boulder. Please reserve your $10 ticket at: https://www.simpletix.com/e/
