Tri-City Trio..

The Delta Sonics Blues Band takes a Chicago Blues base and seasons it with Swing, Delta, N’awlins R&B and some early Rock n’ Roll. They’ve been playing in Colorado since 1992, and have established themselves as one of the finest blues acts in the area with their solid musicianship and exciting live performances.  In 2022, Al Chesis was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Colorado Blues Society.

The Sonics have been THE Mile Hi ‘go-to’ band for touring Blues national acts for nearly 15 yrs. They were Westword’s best blues band in Denver for six consecutive years. The band made the semi-finals in the Memphis (International Blues Challenge) in 2012, after defeating 30 other Colorado bands.

The band has backed national blues acts like Big Bill Morganfield, Steadyrollin Bob Margolin, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Grammy -nominated Lurrie Bell, Grammy -nominated John Primer and the late Pinetop Perkins, & the late Bo Diddley. The Delta Sonics opened for BB King (twice) Robert Cray ( three times) and Jimmy Vaughn (twice) among many others.  Al Chesis supplies vocals & foot stomping showmanship but it’s his harmonica playing that grabs you. He has been a Hohner endorser since 1992.

Bob Pellegrino supplies the dazzling, slide guitar. Bob was the Colorado Blues Society’s best slide guitar player in three years in a row. Pellegrino has been a mainstay blues player in the Rocky Mountain region for more than 25 years, but has also played all over the country including Kansas City’s Grand Emporium, Manny’s Car Wash in New York, the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas, and Antone’s in Austin. Bob has also been featured at the Swallow Hill Folk Festival and the 2006 Monterrey Bay Blues Festival.

Al Chesis was one of the only local harmonica players to be featured at the SPAH Convention held in Denver in 2006 and also appeared on Mark Hummel’s Harmonica Blowout with harp heavyweights  Magic Dick, Kim Wilson, Jason Ricci, and Mark Hummel himself in Denver and Colorado Springs in October 2008.

Ken Saydak has enjoyed a nearly forty-year career as a musician, writer, vocalist, and producer. His work as a pianist and organist on over fifty albums is well known in the national and international blues scene. His 2005 release It’s My Soul, on Evidence Records follows his two previous CDs on the Delmark label, Love Without Trust and his solo debut Foolish Man. All of his recordings showcase his instantly recognizable vocal and piano styles as well as his insightful and engaging songwriting. A co-producer of the two Rounder Records CDs with his 1990’s American roots band, Big Shoulders, Big Shoulders and Nickel History, he continued his growth as a producer on both of his own Delmark CDs as well as the label’s critically embraced 2000 release, Learned My Lesson, for Chicago blues singer Zora Young.      Listen Here: https://deltasonics.net/home                                                                                                                                                           Learn more about Ken Saydak: http://www.kensaydak.com/ken/index.asp
